*The Dr. Joe Eben Corliss, Sumner High School Class of 1958, Spartan Band & Color Guard, #BELIKEHAYLEY and Walker scholarships have additional essay questions that are required to be answered by the applicant.

ADELE KOSTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: To a female student with a 3.0+ GPA who is involved in school and community activities and leadership.

Award: $500

ANAM BETH KELLY CHOIR SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: this scholarship honors a graduating Sumner High School choir student who possesses such altruistic qualities as care for others, helpfulness to school, to students, staff, and willingness to step out to support, help in a positive way students who may encounter bullying in school. The recipient recognizes students who may feel apart from school and social challenges for medical and other reasons.

ARMAND MOCERI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: To a Sumner High senior who is pursuing a four year college degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA; Must demonstrate a commitment to enrich his/her learning through school or community leadership, or entrepreneurial skills; Preference will be given to an applicant who is the first in his/her family to attend college; Interview with Moceri family members required.

Award: $2,000

BLESSING MOVEMENT COMMUNITY BUILDER SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship honors  students who see value in serving the community and participate in the Blessing Movement yard project and other volunteer events within the students’ local community.  Each student will create value by helping local Senior Citizens, the Disabled,  and/or Veterans by doing yard work for those who are in need.  Multiple community organizations, local businesses, and individuals contribute and support these scholarships.”                                                             Award: Minimum of $500 (May vary year to year)

Requirements: Must be a choral or band student who will pursue a college education.

CAVIEZEL/NORDECK FAMILIES SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: To a graduating senior who will attend a four-year university to obtain a Bachelors degree in Education; in recognition of longtime Sumner elementary educators, Nancy Nordeck and Judy Caviezel.

Award: $1,500

CROSS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: This scholarship honors a Sumner High School graduating senior girl with a minimum 3.2 GPA who has been accepted to a college/university/ trade school and who has an interest in the food or agriculture industry.

Award: $1,000

DAVID AND WILMA WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a vocational or technical education.

Award: $1,000

Requirements: To a student in the top 20% of their class who demonstrates a clear interest in science through completion of at least three substantive science courses.

Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in business entrepreneurship. This scholarship will require finalist interviews and an additional essay.

Award: $2,500 each year for 4 years

EILEEN LEIGHTON BEAULIEU SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career involving children.

Award: $500

Selection: Beaulieu family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

Eileen served the US Army as a civilian though their Childcare Centers at several bases around the country. While she was at Fort Lewis working as a supervisor, she encouraged promising at-home childcare providers to return to school for an Early Childhood degree. After they finished school, Eileen would hire them as providers. She encouraged and supported many women to return to school and earn their degree, many who are now in leadership positions at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Eileen was working in Washington, D.C. as second in command for Army Child Care Centers worldwide, offering technical support around the world, when she died.  After her passing, JBLM named a new child care center after her.  Eileen was passionate about providing world-class child care for young children ensuring their early learning was high quality. Her passion for young children and encouraging advanced education for adults lives on in this scholarship.

Requirements: Must be pursuing a four year college education in either liberal arts or social sciences.

Award: $1,500 each year for 4 years

Requirements: To a student who shows a desire for higher education at a vocational/technical school, or community college, or a 4 year college/university.

HARRY CORLISS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE TRADES

Requirements: Must be planning on attending a Trade School and have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Award: $8,000

Selection: A student from Sumner High and a student from Bonney Lake High who demonstrates potential, commitment to attend trade school, and has interest in a career in the construction, transportation, automotive, or engineering trades.

HEWITT LELAND SLATER SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is given to a deserving Sumner High School student who demonstrates character, integrity, and unwavering kindness in its utmost sincere fashion. Past recipients have demonstrated in their daily activities, the character traits, integrity traits, and kindness traits that Hewitt L. Slater embodied.

Award: $1,000

Requirements: Female student considering a career in health care or education.

SPARTAN BAND & COLOR GUARD SCHOLARSHIP 
Honors three graduating seniors in recognition of their involvement in the Sumner High school Band who have significantly benefited from the program and/or made significant contributions to the program. 

Requirements: To students who have participated in the Sumner High School Band for three or more years, and plan to further their education at a vocational/technical school, community college/4-year college/university, or the military.

Award: $500 each

This scholarship honors 3 Sumner High School seniors who have been student athletes during their time in high school. These seniors will bring the leadership and sportsmanship skills they have gained through their high school athletic experience to their post high school education.

Requirements: Must be planning to enroll in a two/four year college or university with the long-term goal of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or beyond as qualification for future career. An additional essay is required. Preferences are given to those who exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”

Award: Several scholarships of $3,500 are awarded each year

THE GARIANDA-BELVAL DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: The Gariando-Belval merit-based scholarship will be awarded to a minority student who exhibits high achievements and/or potential in areas such as academics, leadership, and community work.  Eligible applicants must pursue undergraduate or community-college degrees, have a 3.0 GPA, and be a minority student. 

Award: $500

THE GRATITUDE 253 SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: This scholarship honors a high school senior who embodies the mission of Gratitude 253 — "spreading love, kindness, and joy in the 253." This student takes an interest in making a difference in the world through community service and inspires others to do the same.

Award: $1,000

Requirements: To a student who has attended Sumner High for at least 2 years and has a 3.0 GPA or higher and is accepted to a 4 year Washington University.

Requirements: To a graduating senior who is a partial or full IB student; has a 3.5 GPA or higher; has financial need; attending a community or 4 year college/university.

#BELIKEHAYLEY SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: The #belikehayley Scholarship honors a graduating senior from each high school (including Elhi Hill) in the SBLSD who exhibits an understanding of the selfless and life-giving act of organ donation.
