Bonney Lake High School Scholarships

Managed by the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation (SBLEF)

*The Dr. Joe Eben Corliss and #BELIKEHAYLEY scholarships have additional essay questions that are required to be answered by the applicant.

BLESSING MOVEMENT COMMUNITY BUILDER SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship honors  students who see value in serving the community and participate in the Blessing
Movement yard project and other volunteer events within the students’ local community.  Each student
will create value by helping local Senior Citizens, the Disabled,  and/or Veterans by doing yard work for
those who are in need.  Multiple community organizations, local businesses, and individuals contribute
and support these scholarships.                             
Award: Minimum of $500 (May vary year to year)
Selection: The Blessing Movement

BLHS BAND ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Honors a Bonney Lake High School senior band student.
Award: $500
Selection: BLHS Band Parent Association


BONNEY LAKE SUMNER LITTLE LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP
The BLS Little League Scholarship: This scholarship honors two Sumner/BL School District seniors who
have been BLSLL athletes during their time in attendance within the Sumner/BL School District. These
seniors will bring the leadership and sportsmanship skills they have gained through their BLSLL athletic
experience to their post high school education. Must have been a participant in a BLSLL athletics program
for at least two (2) years during their attendance at Sumer/BL School District. o Eligible BLSLL playing
divisions: Juniors, Majors, Minors. Must have maintained a 3.2 cumulative GPA during high school.
Must demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship skills gained through their athletic experience in BLSLL.
Award: 4x $1,000, 2 per high school (two Sumner HS and two Bonney Lake HS student)

BOB DALTON SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in communications.
Award: $500
Selection: Dalton family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

BOB SWANSON MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be a choral or band student who will pursue a college education to become a music
educator.
Award: $500

DR. JOE EBEN CORLISS ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in business entrepreneurship. This scholarship will
require finalist interviews & an additional essay.
Award: $2,500 each year for 4 years
Selection: Corliss family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation
*This scholarship has additional application requirements – Corliss Scholarship Supplemental
Application (additional essay questions are required to be answered) form. Turn in completed form and
letters of recommendation to Guidance Office.

EILEEN LEIGHTON BEAULIEU SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career involving children. 
Award: $500
Selection: Beaulieu family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

EISMANN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be pursuing a four year college education in either liberal arts or social sciences.
Award: $1,500 each year for 4 years

HARRY CORLISS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE TRADES
Requirements: A student from Sumner High and a student from Bonney Lake High who demonstrates
potential, commitment to attend trade school, and has interest in a career in the construction,
transportation, automotive, or engineering trades. Must be planning on attending a Trade School and
have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Award: $8,000
Selection: Representatives of the Corliss Family
 
HEART OF THE PANTHER SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: This scholarship honors the four students selected for the Bonney Lake Panther, Heart of
the Panther award with a $500 scholarship for each of the recipients.
Award: $500

JOHN DOAN ARTS AND MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a student studying art, music or journalism.
Award: $500

KATHRYN DALTON TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in education.
Award: $500
Selection: Dalton family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

MADISON MURPHY VOLLEYBALL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be in varsity program senior year and finish in good standing with a minimum 2.5
GPA; must have played all consecutive years in high school.
Award: $500
Selection: Panther Parent Pride (PPP)
 
NEWLAND COMMUNITIES AT TEHALEH SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a student who wishes to pursue a career with a sustainability conscious focus.
Minimum GPA of 3.5 and must demonstrate current sustainability conscious practices in their daily life.
Award: $500

SUMNER/BONNEY LAKE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (SBLEF) ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: High academic achievement based on GPA and strength of courses taken.
Award: Multiple Awards (Award Varies Year to Year $500 Minimum)
Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation
 
SUMNER/BONNEY LAKE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (SBLEF) VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a technical or vocational career.
Award: $500 – multiple students are selected from BLHS
Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation
 
SUMNER ROTARY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP** 
Requirements: Must be planning to enroll in a two/four year college or university with the long-term goal
of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or beyond as qualification for future career. Additional essay is required.
Preferences are given to those who exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
Award: Several scholarships of $3,500 are awarded each year

SUMNER ROTARY VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP** 
Requirements: Must be planning to use Vocational/Technical certification or Associate’s degree for a
future career. Additional essay required. Preference is given to those who exemplify Rotary’s motto of
“Service Above Self.”
Award: Several scholarships of $2,500 are awarded each year
Selection: Sumner Rotary Scholarship Committee

SUNSET AUTO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: Must be pursing education in salesmanship, auto mechanics, accounting or finance,
customer service or any other related field approved by the SAA.
Award: $5,000

SUNSET CHEVROLET SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in automotive service.
Award: $3,600

THE CHAMBER COLLECTIVE SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be pursuing a two/four year education with emphasis in business.
Award: $500

THE GARIANDA-BELVAL DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: The Gariando-Belval merit-based scholarship will be awarded to a minority student who
exhibits high achievements and/or potential in areas such as academics, leadership, and community
work.  Eligible applicants must pursue undergraduate or community-college degrees, have a 3.0 GPA, and
be a minority student. 
Award: $500

#BELIKEHAYLEY SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: The #belikehayley Scholarship honors a graduating senior from each high school
(including Elhi Hill) in the SBLSD who exhibits an understanding of the selfless and life-giving act of organ
donation.
Award: Multiple Scholarships Annually at $500

Most Sumner Rotary scholarships are NOT managed by the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation. However,
some require an additional essay linked to this site. If you have questions regarding any of the Sumner Rotary
