NOTE: All completed scholarship applications require a letter of recommendation. Turn in letter of recommendation to Guidance Office. 

The Corliss, Class of 1958, and Walker scholarships have additional essay questions that are required to be answered by the applicant.

 

KEVIN JOHN ANDERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: To a student who embodies the traits, characteristics or career aspirations valued by Kevin John Anderson and the Anderson family. Award: $1000 Selection: John Anderson family

 

EILEEN LEIGHTON BEAULIEU SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career involving children. Award: $500 Selection: Beaulieu family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

NORMA J. BOUSHEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements:  To a student who is active in school and community. Award: $500 Selection: Boushey family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation
 

CAVIEZEL/NORDECK FAMILIES SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: To a graduating senior who will attend a four-year university to obtain a Bachelors degree in Education; in recognition of longtime Sumner elementary educators, Nancy Nordeck and Judy Caviezel. Award: $1,500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

DR. JOE EBEN CORLISS SCHOLARSHIP (This scholarship has additional application requirements – Corliss Scholarship Supplemental Application (additional essay questions that are required to be answered). Turn in completed form and letters of recommendation to Guidance Office.)
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in business entrepreneurship. This scholarship will require finalist interviews and an additional essay. Award: $2,500 each year for 4 years Selection: Corliss family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

BOB DALTON SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in communications. Award: $500 Selection: Dalton family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

KATHRYN DALTON TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in education. Award: $500 Selection: Dalton family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

JOHN DOAN ARTS AND MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a student studying art, music or journalism. Award: $400 (minimum award) Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

JERRY DOWNING MEMORIAL GOLF SCHOLARSHIP 

(This scholarship has additional application requirements: A letter of recommendation from golf coach required. Turn in letter to Guidance Office.) Requirements: To a graduating senior who will attend college the year after graduation. Must be a member of their high school golf team. Award: $500

DR. AND MRS. JAMES P. DUFFY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a student in the top 20% of their class who demonstrates a clear interest in science through completion of at least three substantive science courses. Award: $1,000 Selection: Duffy family

 

EISMANN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: Must be pursuing a four year college education in either liberal arts or social sciences. Award: $1,500 each year for 4 years Selection: Donald and Paula Eismann

 

ELHI HILL PHOENIX SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: To a graduating senior who has attended Elhi Hill School for at least one semester, has EHP character and who desires to continue his/her education at college or post-secondary training. Award: $500 Selection: Elhi Hill School faculty

JENNY HOLMSTROM EXCEPTIONAL MATH STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a male and a female student who has demonstrated exceptional STEM academic capabilities. Award: Two awards at $1,000 each Selection: Jenny Holmstrom
 

REUBEN KNOBLAUCH SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements:  To a student leader pursuing a four year college education with emphasis on political matters. Award: $1,000 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

ADELE KOSTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: To a female student with a 3.0+ GPA who is involved in school and community activities and leadership. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

ADELE KOSTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: To a male student with a 3.0+ GPA who is involved in school and community activities and leadership. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

LEVY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: To a student of good academic standing who has been involved in STEM classes and/or is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Award: $1,500 Selection: Judith Levy Family through Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

SUMNER LIONS CLUB

Requirements: To a student pursuing a course of study beyond high school who volunteered numerous hours in the community, particularly with Lions projects.

Award:Two awards at $250 each Selection: Sumner Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

MICHAEL McGOWAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Student who excels in baseball. Award: $1,500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

ARMAND MOCERI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: To a Sumner High senior who is pursuing a four year college degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA; Must demonstrate a commitment to enrich his/her learning through school or community leadership, or entrepreneurial skills; Preference will be given to an applicant who is the first in his/her family to attend college; Interview with Moceri family members required. Requirements: To a student pursuing a career in education. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

NEWLAND COMMUNITIES AT TEHALEH SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: To a student who wishes to pursue a career with a sustainability conscious focus. Minimum GPA of 3.5 and must demonstrate current sustainability conscious practices in their daily life. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

   

HOPE OVERFIELD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: Female student considering a career in health care or education. Award: $1,000 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

KIRK OVERFIELD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: Male student considering a career in health care or education. Award: $1,000 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

LUCY PASQUIRE SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: To a student who is pursuing a four year college degree with a minimum 3.25 GPA, has financial need, and is a participant and leader in school activities. Award: $900 per year for 4 years Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

HEWITT LELAND SLATER SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is given to a deserving Sumner High School student who demonstrates character, integrity, and unwavering kindness in its utmost sincere fashion. Past recipients have demonstrated in their daily activities, the character traits, integrity traits, and kindness traits that Hewitt L. Slater embodied. Award: $1,000 Selection: The Slater family through the Sumner/Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

SUMNER-BONNEY LAKE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (SBLEF) ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: High academic achievement based on GPA and strength of courses taken. Award: $500 (minimum award) – multiple students are selected from SHS

Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a technical or vocational career. Award: $500 – multiple students are selected from SHS

  • Arnie Blancus Scholarship

  • Joe Hanni Memorial Scholarship: Joe Hanni helped found the Alumni Association and was treasurer

  • Don Opseth Memorial Scholarship: Don Opseth founded the Alumni Association and was the first president

  • General/Centennial Scholarship

SUMNER HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1958 SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: (This scholarship has additional application requirements – Class of '58 Scholarship Supplemental Application - additional essay questions that are required to be answered by the applicant). Turn in completed form and letters of recommendation to Guidance Office.) Honors a student who demonstrate a strong commitment to learn and master a vocational trade paving the way for a high-paying and rewarding trade career. Award: $1500 Selection: Class of 1958 Scholarship Committee through SBLEF

Most Sumner Rotary scholarships are NOT managed by the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation.  However, some require an additional essay linked to this      site.  If you have questions regarding any of the Sumner Rotary scholarships, please contact the Sumner Rotary.  

SUMNER ROTARY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP* (This scholarship has additional application requirements – Rotary Scholarship Additional Application form. Turn in completed form and letters of recommendation to Guidance Office.)Requirements: Must be planning to enroll in a two/four year college or university with the long-term goal of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or beyond as qualification for future career. An additional essay is required. Preferences are given to those who exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”Award: Several scholarships of $3,500 are awarded each year Selection: Sumner Rotary Scholarship Committee

 

SUMNER ROTARY VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP* (This scholarship has additional application requirements – Rotary Scholarship Supplemental Application form. An additional essay is required. SUNSET CHEVROLET SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Must be planning to pursue a career in automotive service. Award: $3,600 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

SUNSET AUTO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements: Must be pursing education in salesmanship, auto mechanics, accounting or finance, customer service or any other related field approved by the SAA. Award: One award at $5,000 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

BOB SWANSON MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: Must be a choral or band student who will pursue a college education. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

ROBERT THURMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: To a graduating senior who is currently enrolled at Elhi Hill Alternative School and who intends to attend a school of higher education the year following graduation. Award: $500 Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

USHER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Requirements: To a student who has attended Sumner High for at least 2 years and has a 3.0 GPA or higher and is accepted to a 4 year Washington University. Award: $1,000 Selection: Selection: Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

 

LUKE VOILES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Requirements: Male scholar/athlete from Sumner High School. Award: $500 Selection: Voiles family through the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation

WALKER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

(This scholarship has additional application requirements – Walker Scholarship Supplemental Application form - additional essay questions that are required to be answered by the applicant).Turn in completed form and letters of recommendation to Guidance Office.) Requirements: To a graduating senior who is a partial or full IB student; has a 3.5 GPA or higher; has financial need; attending a community or 4 year college/university.
